About
Andrew Stephens, JD
Andrew was born and raised in SE Portland and maintains strong ties to Tillamook County on the Oregon Coast. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics and Anthropology from the University of Oregon and his law degree from Willamette University College of Law.
Before joining Sunstone Planning LLC, Andrew worked extensively in family law, where he gained firsthand experience helping clients navigate complex family relationships, major life transitions, and difficult conversations. Those experiences continue to inform his estate planning practice. He understands that effective planning involves more than legal documents. It requires thoughtful conversations about family dynamics, long-term goals, and the legacy clients want to leave behind.
Having seen the emotional and financial costs of family disputes firsthand, Andrew is passionate about helping clients create plans that reduce uncertainty and prevent conflict for future generations. He believes the best estate plans not only protect assets, but also provide clarity and peace of mind for loved ones during difficult times.
Drawing on his background in economics and his love for problem-solving, Andrew enjoys helping clients create practical and efficient estate plans that protect their families, preserve their assets, and simplify future decision-making. Whether addressing tax considerations, business succession planning, or the transfer of wealth across generations, he works closely with clients to develop solutions tailored to their unique goals and circumstances.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys playing basketball and tennis, watching Blazer games, working in the garden, traveling, and catching Dead shows, even if they keep saying it's the final tour.
